Our work

What have we built for small businesses?

Real sites for real businesses, built and cared for by us. Each one was designed for how that business wins customers, then built, launched and looked after. Scroll to watch the pages move.

What we build

What kind of websites do we build?

Whatever your business needs, from a one-page site to a custom web app. Most projects are one of these four, and many are a mix.

The right build

Hand-coded or WordPress: which is right for you?

The one that fits how your business runs. I hand-coded HTML, CSS and JavaScript for decades, and today I also build in WordPress with Elementor, the most popular choice, and in Shopify, so your site is built on the platform that suits how you work.

Built, not bought

What does custom development look like?

When a plugin won't do it right, we build it. These are pieces we designed and coded for real clients, each one doing a job no off-the-shelf add-on could.

Every site includes

What comes with every website?

The things that make a site work, built in from the start. Not add-ons, and not extra line items.

  • Designed for phones first

Most of your visitors are on a phone, so every page is designed for it from the start.

  • Fast pages

Images in WebP and sized for the page, videos compressed, and each page loads only what it needs.

  • Built to accessibility standards

Contrast, keyboard use, labels and reduced motion, built in, not added by a plugin.

  • Search basics built in

Titles, descriptions, headings, search data and sitemaps on every page, ready for Google and AI tools.

  • Lead tracking

Calls, texts, emails and form sends counted in Google Analytics, so you can see what works.

  • Branded forms and emails

Forms that ask the right questions, and emails that look like your brand.

  • Security and spam protection

Safer settings, form spam protection and free SSL when we host your site.

  • A live hours report

Every task and hour on your private report, updated as the work is done.

The process

How does a website project work?

Six steps, and you talk to the same person at every one. A free conversation, a clear estimate, the homepage first, then the rest of the site, launch day and care after.

  1. 01

    Free consultation

We talk through your business, your customers and what the site has to do.

  2. 02

    Estimate in hours

A clear estimate, shown three ways, before any work starts.

  3. 03

    Design

We design the homepage first. Once you love the look, the other pages follow it.

  4. 04

    Build

Every page built, tested on phones, tablets and desktops, and checked by us.

  5. 05

    Launch

Redirects, Search Console, analytics and forms set up and tested on launch day.

  6. 06

    Care

Hosting, updates and new pages when you need them, with your hours on your live report.

Redesigns

Will a redesign cost me my Google rankings?

Not when it's done right: every old page gets mapped to its new one before launch. A redesign should keep the search traffic you've already earned, so we plan the move before we design a single page.

  • A list of every page, image and link on your current site
  • The pages that already rank keep their place, or move with a permanent redirect
  • Titles, descriptions and search data carried over and improved
  • A new sitemap sent to Google on launch day
  • Search Console watched in the weeks after launch, and anything missed fixed
Redirect map · example0 of 5 mapped
  1. /about-us.html/about/301
  2. /services.php/services/301
  3. /hair-color.html/services/hair-color/301
  4. /contact-us.html/contact/301
  5. /gallery2.html/work/301
Every old address goes to its new page with a permanent (301) redirect, so links and rankings carry over.

Questions

The questions small business owners ask us most about building a website.

Updated

How much does a website cost?

It depends on what the site needs to do. After a free consultation we estimate the work in hours, so you know the cost before anything starts. Starter sites begin at about 20 hours: $800 with a prepaid 20‑hour block, or $1,500 at the pay-as-you-go rate of $75 an hour. Bigger sites and custom features take more hours, and every hour shows on your live report.

How long does it take to build a website?

Many websites are built in 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the size of the site and how quickly answers, content and changes come back. We have finished sites in as little as 2 days. Your estimate shows the hours before any work starts, and your live report shows progress as it happens.

Hand-coded or WordPress: which is right for me?

If your site changes now and then and you want the fastest, most distinctive site, hand-coded HTML, CSS and JavaScript is often the better fit. If you update text, photos, prices or posts often, or want a blog, WordPress lets you do that yourself. If you sell products online, Shopify is usually the answer. We build all three and recommend the one that fits how your business runs.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes, if you want to. On WordPress you can edit text, photos, prices and posts yourself. On a hand-coded site, most clients send changes to us and use their hours, which keeps the site fast and the code clean. Either way, you talk to the person who built it.

Can you redesign my site without losing my Google rankings?

Yes. Before launch we list every page on your current site, keep the addresses that rank, and send every other old address to its new page with a permanent redirect. Titles, descriptions and search data carry over, the new sitemap goes to Google on launch day, and we watch Search Console in the weeks after.

Can you build custom features?

Yes. We have built a wrap visualizer with 261 real films, a quote builder that turns visitors into qualified leads, a custom Shopify cart with mix-and-match pricing, and our own Instagram feed plugin. If a plugin won’t do what your business needs, we can build it.

Do you write the content?

If you would like us to. Your logo, photos, text and price lists are yours to provide, and we build around them word for word. If you want help, writing the content, finding photos or designing a logo can be part of the project, estimated in hours like everything else.

Who owns my website?

You do. Once the project is paid in full, your website and your domain are yours, and you can take them to any host you like. See the Terms of Service.

Do you host the websites you build?

We can, with cPanel, webmail and free SSL, and real support from a real person. WordPress sites need at least our Standard plan, $150 a year. Shopify stores are hosted by Shopify. See web hosting.

Will my new website show up on Google?

Every site we build has the search basics built in: titles, descriptions, headings, search data and sitemaps, and it goes to Google Search Console on launch day. No one can promise rankings, but a well-built site gives you the best start. For a full evaluation and fixes, see SEO & AI search.

Do you work with businesses outside Sacramento?

Yes. We’re a remote studio working with small businesses across the United States and around the world. Your free consultation, the work itself and your live report all happen online, so distance never slows anything down.
