Ways to pay

What are the ways to pay?

Three ways, the same work. Pay as you go is billed by the hour; blocks are billed in 15‑minute steps, so you only use the time the work takes. Here is the same 2 hour 10 minute job three ways.

When a block runs out, you choose what comes next: another block, or a few more hours at $75 an hour, still counted in 15‑minute steps with no 2‑hour minimum and usually paid when the work is done. Larger hourly jobs may need a deposit. Prepaid hours never expire, and they are not refundable because they are already discounted.

The questions people ask most about pricing, prepaid hours and billing.

Updated

Why do you price by the hour?

Because no two projects are the same size. You get an estimate in hours after a free consultation, you see every hour on your live report, and you only use the time the work takes. Prepaying brings the rate down from $75 to $55 or $40 an hour.

Do prepaid hours expire?

No. Prepaid hours stay on your account until you use them, for this project or the next one.

Are prepaid hours refundable?

No. Blocks are already discounted from the hourly rate, so prepaid hours are not refundable. They never expire, though, and they work for any service.

Can one block cover different services?

Yes. One block covers any mix: a website, a logo, SEO, a Shopify store, video or hosting help. If your site takes 12 hours of a 20‑hour block, the other 8 stay on your account.

What happens when my hours run out?

You can see your hours on your live report the whole time, and I tell you before you go past what you have paid for. Then you choose how to continue: another block, or a few more hours. If you need a few more hours after a block, they’re billed at $75 an hour but still counted in 15‑minute steps, with no 2‑hour minimum, and usually paid when the work is done. For bigger jobs, another block saves you money; larger hourly jobs may need a deposit.

Is there a minimum?

Pay as you go has a 2‑hour minimum and is billed in 1‑hour steps. Blocks are billed in 15‑minute steps, so a 2 hour 10 minute job uses 2 hours 15 minutes of your block. Extra hours after a block have no minimum and are counted in 15‑minute steps too.

How do I pay?

By Zelle, Venmo, PayPal or Cash App. Blocks are paid up front. Pay as you go is billed weekly: small jobs of about 4 hours or less are billed when they are done, and bigger projects start with a deposit. Monthly hosting is a PayPal subscription.

How do I see the hours I have used?

Every client gets a live report: each finished task, the hours it took and the hours left, updated as the work happens. It is the same kind of report I keep for this website.

Do you offer discounts?

The blocks are the discount: $55 an hour with a 10‑hour block and $40 an hour with a 20‑hour block, almost half the hourly rate. There are no other discounts.

How much does a website cost?

Starter sites begin at about 20 hours: $800 with a 20‑hour block, or $1,500 pay as you go. Bigger sites take more hours; you get an estimate after a free consultation. See Web Design.

How much does a logo cost?

Most logos take 8 to 10 hours: one 10‑hour block ($550), or $600 to $750 pay as you go. See Logo Design.

How much does SEO and AI search work cost?

Most sites take 10 to 20 hours: $550 to $800 with prepaid hours, or $750 to $1,500 pay as you go. See SEO & AI Search.

How much does a Shopify store cost?

How much do logo animations and videos cost?

Most logo animations, product and promo videos take 2 to 10 hours: from $150 pay as you go (2‑hour minimum), or one 10‑hour block for $550. See Video & Motion.

How much does hosting cost?

Plans run from $50 to $350 a year, or $5 to $35 a month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. See Web Hosting.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. The consultation and the estimate are free. You only pay once you choose how to pay and the work starts.
