Logo Design

Custom logo design and logo refreshes for small businesses.

Marks that make a brand, drawn to last.

We design new logos and refresh existing ones for small businesses: a mark that works on a sign, a shirt, a storefront and a phone screen, delivered with a full set of files you own. I've designed logos since 1996 for brands across the United States, and you work with me directly from the first draft to the final files.

New or refresh

Do I need a new logo or a refresh?

We'll tell you honestly which one you need. A logo customers already recognize is worth keeping. When it looks dated or falls apart at small sizes, a refresh fixes that without starting over.

A new logo

Starting fresh

Best whenYou are opening a business, renaming one, or your old logo no longer fits who you are.

  • A look at your business, your customers and your competitors first
  • 3 to 5 logo ideas to react to, then one refined until it is right
  • Built to read on a sign, a shirt and a phone screen
  • Every version and file you will need, yours to keep

Where most new businesses start

A logo refresh

Keep what works

Best whenCustomers already know your logo, but it looks dated, blurs when small, or only exists as a low-quality file.

  • Keeps the shape and colors people already recognize
  • Cleaner lines and lettering, redrawn as sharp vector files
  • New versions for small sizes, one color and dark backgrounds
  • An update your customers notice, without starting over

Often fewer hours than a new logo

Refresh case study

KandyMan

KandyMan's characters were already loved by customers. We kept every feature people know and rebuilt them in polished 3D, so the brand looks new without looking different.

01

The logo: one original, a new family

The flat logo became a polished 3D character and three versions, each made for where it is used.

What we kept

  • The apple character: its leaf crown, stem, big eyes and grin
  • The flames and wheels, the rainbow guitar and the sneakers
  • The KM monogram, the KandyMan wordmark and the brand colors
  • The apple, strawberry and blueberry faces

What we refreshed

  • Every character rebuilt in polished 3D, with real gloss and depth
  • One consistent light across all the characters
  • High-resolution files for the website, banners and print
  • An animated version of the guitar player for video

Updated

How much does a logo cost?

It depends on what the logo needs. After a free consultation we estimate the work in hours, so you know the cost before anything starts. Most logos take 8 to 10 hours of design work: $600 to $750 at the pay-as-you-go rate of $75 an hour, or one 10‑hour block at $550. Any hours you don’t use stay on your account for your website or a logo animation.

How long does a logo take?

Most logos are finished within a week, depending on how quickly your feedback and revision requests come back. Your live report shows progress as it happens, so you always know where the project stands.

Should I refresh my logo or start over?

If customers already know your logo and it still says the right thing about you, a refresh keeps that recognition and fixes what holds it back: dated lettering, fine detail that blurs when small, or missing files. If you are renaming, changing direction, or the logo no longer fits, a new logo is the better start. We will tell you honestly which one you need.

Do I own my logo?

Yes. When the project is paid, the logo and every file are yours to use however you like, on anything, with no yearly fees.

What files will I get?

Light and dark versions of your logo, in PDF, PNG, JPEG, SVG and WebP formats: PDF for print, SVG that scales to any size without losing sharpness, and PNG, JPEG and WebP for screens, documents and the web, plus brand guidelines that show your colors, fonts and how to use each version.

How many designs will I see?

Usually 3 to 5 logo ideas, based on the direction you give us in the consultation. You pick the one you like best and we refine it until it is right. Because the work is billed by the hour, you never run out of a fixed number of revision rounds, and every change shows on your live report.

Can you rebuild my old logo?

Yes. We rebuild old logos as clean, sharp files, even from a low-quality image, and update and refresh them along the way if they need it. It is part of our logo design service, billed by the hour like everything else.

Can you animate my logo?

Yes. A 3 to 8 second logo animation for videos, social posts and your website starts at about 6 hours. See video and motion.

Can you design my website too?

Yes. Most of our logo clients also have us design their website, so the brand is the same everywhere it shows up. See web design.

Do you work with businesses outside Sacramento?

Yes. We’re a remote studio working with small businesses across the United States and around the world. Your free consultation, the design reviews and your live report all happen online, so distance never slows anything down.
