How accessible is this website?

In plain wordsWe want everyone to be able to use this site. Our goal is WCAG 2.2 level AA.

Dinsmore Graphics wants everyone to be able to read this site, look at the work and get in touch, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and keep checking as the site changes.

What have you built in?

In plain wordsKeyboard use, clear focus, readable contrast, less motion on request, and labeled forms.
  • Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a clear blue outline on the item in focus.
  • Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations stop, videos do not play on their own, and moving rows become rows you swipe.
  • Buttons and links are sized and spaced to be easy to tap on a phone.
  • Form fields have labels, and errors say what to fix.
  • Images have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
  • Color is never the only signal: selected items also change their border and show a check mark.
  • Questions, menus and the quote form work with screen readers.
  • Our email address is protected from spam robots in a way that still reads normally to screen readers.

Is anything not fully accessible yet?

In plain wordsA few things, and we are honest about them.
  • Some showcase videos and animations have no sound and no captions, because they have no spoken words; they are described in the text around them.
  • Pictures of client websites are screenshots, so their text is not readable by screen readers; the client names and descriptions are in the page text.
  • Embedded YouTube videos, PayPal and other outside services are run by those companies and follow their own accessibility.

How do you check it?

In plain wordsBy hand on phones, tablets and computers, with the keyboard, and with automated checks.

Each page is checked at six screen sizes from small phones to large monitors, with the keyboard only, with reduced motion turned on, and with automated accessibility checks before it goes live.
